DATA MIGRATIONS ENGINEER (Financial Systems)

  • Design and maintain data migration scripts from legacy systems (PE, CCH, others).
  • Write complex SQL queries to transform, normalize, and reconcile financial data.
  • Migrate and validate information related to:
    • Work In Progress (WIP)
    • Accounts Receivable (AR)
    • Invoicing, payments, credits, write-offs, adjustments
  • Perform numerical reconciliations (before / after) to ensure data integrity.
  • Identify and document conversion rules and historical edge cases.
  • Create supporting scripts in Ruby (or Python) for ETL processes, parsing, and automation.
  • Collaborate with the team to iterate on the data model when necessary.
  • Document processes so migrations are repeatable and auditable.

Advanced SQL (very important):

  • Complex JOINs
  • CTEs (WITH)
  • CASE statements, aggregations, window functions
  • Experience working with large databases and inconsistent datasets

Strong numerical / financial understanding:

  • Understanding of the Difference between WIP and AR
  • Billed vs. unbilled
  • Adjustments, credits, reversals, accounting periods
  • Experience with PostgreSQL and/or SQL Server.
  • Ability to validate results, not just execute scripts.

Previous experience migrating data from:

  • Accounting systems
  • ERPs
  • Billing / invoicing platforms
  • Basic knowledge of Ruby or Python for scripting.
  • Experience with data migration or ETL processes.
  • Experience working with financial or accounting software.
